Litija, located in central Slovenia, 40km east of the Slovenian capital Ljubljana, lies in the embrace of the Posavje hills. It is in the centre of Slovenia, as it is the place of the geometric centre of Slovenia. The Sava River flows through the town, dividing it between the left and right banks. It is populated with 15.593 inhabitants and covers a surface of 221 km2.
