The closing event of the ERAS II project took place in Pécs

Pécs and Orfű hosted the project meeting and professional programme within the framework of the “ERAS II – European Alliance for Volunteer Support – learnings from Covid-19 crisis” project, which is co-financed by the European Union within the Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values (CERV) Programme, from 14 to 16 September 2023.

As a Hungarian project partner, the event was hosted by DDTG Nonprofit Kft. from Pécs, the professional program was put together by Éva Knyihár. Bulgarian, Latvian, Portuguese and Slovenian volunteer organizations from Europe were present. At the information day on September 14, several organizations dealing with volunteering were represented, including the Pécs Community Foundation, the Pécs Bike Mafia, the Cultural Labor Social Cooperative, and the “Fekete Sereg” Youth Association. The first day also involved discussions on gender roles in volunteering with partners and local volunteer organizations.

The following day, the Basket Community of Pécs presented itself, and then the participants visited Orfű to get to know the organizers of the accessible tourism day. A workshop was then conducted on how municipalities can support voluntary organizations in effectively responding to crises. This included showcasing good practices and formulating guidelines for municipalities on how to bolster volunteering at the local level.

As a final program on Saturday, the members of the international volunteer group cooked together with the Pécs Bike Mafia team and participated in the in the delivery of the food as part of the charity program.
